The Fluvanna County Sheriff says his deputies are spending their weekend talking with witnesses after a bizarre ATV accident Friday night in Troy.
Around 6 pm Friday, deputies responded to Country Lane to find one man dead and another injured. People at the scene say the pair was riding a Gator all-terrain vehicle, when the vehicle struck a tree.
The driver of the ATV was pronounced dead on the scene, while his passenger was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Upon closer investigation, deputies discovered the driver died, not as a result of the crash, but, instead, from a gunshot wound. Authorities say they do not suspect foul play, but continue to investigate.
At this point neither of the victims' names is being released as deputies work to contact next of kin.
