Several accidents across the area tied up roads Saturday afternoon and evening.
Around 4:30pm an accident closed Elliott Avenue for nearly an hour.
Police say a Cadillac and an SUV collided at the intersection of South First Street and Elliott Avenue. It took crews about a half hour to get the driver of the Cadillac out of the car. Two people from both vehicles were taken to UVA Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
About an hour later, a pedestrian was hit along the 250 Bypass near Ivy Road. Police say a 41 year-old Charlottesville woman pulled over and got out of her car. Authorities aren't sure why, but then the woman walked into oncoming traffic. That's when the driver of an SUV swerved to miss her, but the woman was hit by the passenger side mirror. She was taken to UVA Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Police say no charges will be filed against the driver of the SUV.
And a third accident in Greene County. Police say one man was taken to UVA Medical Center after he lost control of his vehicle and flipped it over along Spring Hill Road. It happened around 7:30pm. When authorities arrived they found the driver unconscious. His condition was not immediately known.
