After seven years of serving Albemarle County Sheriff Ed Robb is retiring and will not seek another term.

Robb says that he's getting older and that he's ready to do something different. He highlighted several accomplishments, from the department getting state accreditation in 2002 to training volunteers, who save the county $60,000 every year.

"I have the best, most professional, best equipped, most discipline, honest deputies that any locality could have working for them. And I certainly must thank county executive Bob Tucker and the Albemarle county board of supervisors for their support," said Robb.

The sheriff said that he is not supporting anyone until he gets a chance to thoroughly review each of the candidates.
