The FDA is warning consumers to throw out certain jars of peanut butter from Peter Pan and Great Value.
The spread has been linked to a nationwide outbreak of salmonella and any lids of jars with the product code beginning with "2-1-1-1" can be returned for a full refund.
Health officials say the outbreak has already made 288 people sick in 38 states across the country including Virginia, who has seen most of the cases along with Tennessee, New York, Pennsylvania and MIssouri.
The Centers for Disease Control say they are still investigatin how salmonella got in to the peanut butter.
