On the first Tuesday of every month, a representative from CB Richard Ellis heads over to Cappellino's Crazy Cakes on the Downtown Mall. there, they pick up about a dozen cupcakes deliver the treats to displaced kids at the local Salvation Army.

It's a small gesture, making an heroic impact.

"People will be at the door early in the morning even way before we open, begging to come in, because they have a cupcake emergency. I didn't know there were such things, but there are," said Dotty Cappellino.

Every day, Dotty Cappellino and her brother, Frank, are hard at work baking some of the areas most unique treats. But once a month, they fill a special order, for kids staying at the local Salvation Army.

"They've kinda been displaced from their homes and as a result, it's a party. They feel good about what they're getting. It's a fun atmosphere and you can really tell it makes a difference in their lives," said Rob Stockhausen, of CB Richard Ellis.

Cappellino's offers the eats as treats at birthday parties and for kids who might otherwise not be able to have them.

"It's like your own little personal pan pizza. It's your own little party. What we bring to it is we bring something that will make them happy, that they don't have to share with anyone," said Dotty.

And happiness is what they deliver. Every cake is sprinkled with something extra; a little extra glitter or a little extra sugar or some extra tiny edible animals.

"It's a great store. Just from a stand point of them giving back to the community. They're a relatively young business, and them giving back to the community like they are, it's been great," said Stockhausen.

"If my brother and I can make anybody feel good, especially for these kids who had a rough time or are having a rough time, there's a special place in the heart," said Dotty.

This week's heroes are helping kids in the community by going through their daily routine, and that's just icing on the cake.
