Skyline drive remained closed this week after an ice storm left the highway filled with tree limbs and downed power lines.
Mild weather could help the highway reopen next week, according to spokeswoman Karen Beck-Herzog.
"We've got plows out there trying to break the ice, but it's different than snow because it takes a lot more work" said Beck-Herzog. This is the second time in three months that the 105-mile highway through Shenandoah National Park has been closed.
And although no trees fell onto the road Beck-Herzog said that they would have to cut back trees leaning over the highway before it could reopen.
