Sunday was the inaugural Oscar party which will be the Virginia Film Festivals annual fundraiser.
The festival is celebrating its 20th year anniversary in 2007 and they hope to make this years festival even bigger and better than before.
Just like the real Oscar's this night was a long time in the making.
The Virginia Film Festival is calling their party, the Oscars with a twist.
"Our twist was we wanted Charlottesville to vote for their own Oscars, so we had ballots published in the hook, and Charlottesville actually got to choose the Oscar winners that we'll be announcing tonight," said Janet Matthews, with the Virginia Film Festival.
Matthews also said, "We have all sorts of live and silent auction items, we're going to have dancing, we have the red carpet out, we're going to have paparazzi, live interviews on the red carpet, we have the VIP lounge upstairs, so its really going to be an amazing, amazing evening of fun."
"As an entity it was important that we support the Virginia Film Festival because it represents and important segment in our community, and is vital to the tourism of which all of our businesses benefit from," said J.F. Legault, owner of the X-Lounge.
The Virginia Film Festival starts November 1, 2007 on the grounds of the University of Virginia.
