There's a bill waiting for Governor Kaine's signature that would put more money into some college kids pockets.
The "Two Year College Transfer Grant Program" would give students with an associates degree one thousand dollars. That money would be for students getting financial aid to continue their education at a four year institution.
"It's an opportunity for families to have more access to higher education at the time we're not sure exactly how many of our students might be eligible for this, but I know that in the Virginia Community College system there's upwards of 1800 students statewide" said Anita Showers of Piedmont Virginia Community College.
The bill would give an additional one thousand dollars to students majoring in high demand fields like engineering, mathematics, and nursing.
