Some University of Virginia faculty and their family members are back in their homes now after 30 of them spent about two hours on a bus. They were evacuated from grounds following a gas leak.

The Charlottesville Fire Department and University of Virginia Police ordered people on Mimosa Drive out of their homes because of the gas leak.

The fire department said a contractor working near a gas line struck it causing it to burst.

Schools were notified before buses left the schools, so there would be no confusion at their stops.
