From forums to fundraisers, political events were held all over the area on Tuesday. Supporters of David Toscano held an event for the delegate. In Earlysville, people came out to hear candidates from the Albemarle County Rio District discuss issues in a forum.

Supporters and friends of Democratic Delegate David Toscano turned out Tuesday night at Siips in Charlottesville, including the best-selling author John Grisham.

"I've always appreciated his stances on things that are important to me like, education and conservation," said Grisham about his support for Toscano through the years.

Virginia House Minority Leader Ward Armstrong was also at Siips. Toscano spoke as well, rallying supporters in his re-election bid this November. His only challenger is a long-shot, independent Brandon Smith.

In Earlysville, a forum featured candidates from the Rio district of Albemarle County.

Candidates for Board of Supervisors, David Slutzky and Rodney Thomas discussed growth in the county, creating and sustaining jobs and the water supply plan.

People also came to hear candidates running for School Board, Ned Gallaway and Pam Moynihan. Gary Grant was in the audience in Earlysville. Grant served on the school board for three years and wanted to learn more about the current candidates.

"I'm big on wanting the people that have been elected to return phone calls, answer emails, contact us if we have a question," said Grant. "I want to know that they're responsive."

He said he wants to know the people he is going to vote for, know what they stand for.
