Albemarle County school officials announced Tuesday that students at Woodbrook Elementary School will be among the first to get the swine flu vaccine. Woodbrook is the school attended by Carson Raymond, the nine-year-old student who died last week from complications with a flu-like illness. His parents believe his death was linked to the swine flu and believe Carson did have the virus.
Albemarle County school officials say Woodbrook Elementary students, along with students from three other schools, will get the shots on October 19.
Officials did add that Woodbrook has moved up the list for recipients of the vaccine because it has the highest percentage of kids with the flu of any school in the county.
