Freshmen students at Western Albemarle High School started a face lift project for Claudius Crozet Park. The students are working with community professionals for a Day of Service. It marks the first time the school has attempted a program like this.

Students spent Wednesday at the park painting, weeding, and mulching. Members of the yearbook, journalism, and video production classes are capturing all the good deeds for a documentary.

"They were pretty excited on the bus. They were all looking forward to it. It was a day out and they were certainly interested in helping out and being a part of the community," said Chris Lombardi.

The work at Crozet Park was not the only community service project for Western Albemarle students Wednesday. Other freshmen worked on clearing trails at Mint Springs Park.
