It is budget time, and the Charlottesville City Council held its first budget work session.
The two hour budget session hit several topics including the tax rate, the affordable housing issue and several unfunded mandates.
While no decisions were made, Councilor Julian Taliaferro says he thinks the City needs to increase the limits for affordable housing assistance.
"People have really been placed out of the eligibility bracket because of the increase in their assessments and as a result of that, I think we need to ratchet that up some particularly for a lot of long term residents of the city," he said.
The City will hold a budget forum on Saturday morning at Buford Middle School at 1o a.m. This will give residents a chance to voice their concerns in a round table format.
