The field at Albemarle High School has taken plenty of hits over the years. There are hopes a turf field will replace the existing grass and dirt. It's a project that doesn't come dirt cheap. Students, athletes, and staff are now organizing a fundraising concert to raise the remaining $180,000 they need.
Despite the hefty price tag, students and teachers have high expectations for the fundraiser.
"I think we could see probably three to four thousand people out here, which would certainly cut into that $180,000," says Anita Jenkins, the AHS Varsity Basketball Coach.
The benefit concert will feature seven local bands. They'll be playing on the field at AHS on Sunday, October 25th from 5:00-7:00 pm.
Tickets to the concert will be $20. You can get them at the high school or by clicking on the link below.
