Charlottesville Police said they are still investigating a fatal shooting that happened one year ago Wednesday.

Eighteen-year-old Gerald Washington Junior was gunned down on Sixth Street Southwest.

Jamel Ross immediately called police to turn himself in.

He was never charged with the murder, because police believe the shooting may have been in self defense.

Investigators however said it is still an active case and they are trying to locate a last witness named Gary.
