Ulisa Chavers Pleads Guilty to Dumping Body in Well

October 21, 2009

Ulisa Mary Chavers, the Louisa County woman accused of hiding her boyfriend's body in a well entered a guilty plea in court Wednesday morning.

Chavers pleaded guilty to concealing a dead body, credit card fraud, identity fraud, and possessing a sawed-off rifle.

Reginal Cody Bowles' body was found in March of 2009, more than two years after he disappeared. The cause of death has not been determined. While Chavers has denied killing anyone, she admits she also buried her second husband, Clent Chavers, in their backyard in Amelia County in 1994. She says he died of natural causes.

Authorities say Chavers collected both men's Social Security checks after they disappeared. Chavers is scheduled to be back in court for sentencing on January 25 of 2010. She faces up to 25 years in jail.
