Albemarle County Police have released the identities of two teenagers that died in a car crash Saturday morning in the area of the 3700 block of Route 29/Monacan Trail northbound.

Destiny Greene, a 13-year-old female passenger and resident of Edgewood, Md. was pronounced dead at the scene Saturday morning. Joshua Woolmer, a 13-year-old male passenger and resident of Edgewood, Md. died Saturday from his injuries.

Police say it appears neither juvenile was wearing a seatbelt and they both were ejected from the vehicle.

"Seat belts might have been a factor,” said Cpl. Sean Hackney, adding, "we're of course going to look at the weather and see if that was a factor."

Larry Daughtry, a 42-year-old Maryland resident, and Jo Ann Greene, a 53-year-old resident of Edgewood Md., were both taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center. They are listed in stable condition. Police say both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Police say the crash is still under investigation. The preliminary report says the Dodge van they were traveling in left the roadway and struck a tree in the median.

Witnesses advised police that there was heavy rain and leaves on the roadway at the time of the crash.

Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor and no charges have been placed at this time.

The deadly crash on Route 29 proved to be the most serious one of the day on Saturday. Rescue crews and police officers kept busy responding to at least 18 crashes across Albemarle County.

The rain slicked roads may have also played a part in a three car crash Friday night on Interstate 64 just before the Route 29 exit. No one was hurt, but police say it serves as an example that drivers need to take it easy on wet roads.

Thank you to all that have been praying and supporting the families. I am Destiney's uncle. I want to thank all of the people that stopped and stayed with destiney, josh, larry and my mother. It is comforting to know that there are people in this world that do care. Especially in the world we all live in today. I know that both of them are in a better place and knowing that I think is what gives me strength to continue to take care of my family in dealing with this. I know that the kids were wearing seatbelts. Evidence is coming out showing they were, aside from their injuries that show it. I can't thank everyone enough for all the love and support and I pray that nobody has to go through anything similar to this. Losing a child is too painful. I shouldn't have to bury her, she was suppose to bury me. Thank you all again from the bottom of my heart. If only we had more hospitals like the UVA, this world would be in a better shape than it's in.

But i do want the media to know like my sister and my cousin said the chilren were wearing their seat belts they do have the marks to prove that.
