Kids in our area now know how to get to Sesame Street after a visit from one of the residents.

As part of Virginia's Festival of the Book, Maria from the popular kids' show made a stop at Carver Recreation Center.

"Fiesta at Storyfest" told the story of a rooster and included kids as characters.

Taking a break from her Sesame Street duties, Sonia Manzano helped by offering the gift of song.

"It's very important for kids to learn how to read, it makes their soul feel better, and it helps them get on a higher plane, and go to school," said Manzano.

The event also included a performance of Hispanic dances by the Church of the Incarnation.
