Tony Snow's Cancer Returns

March 27, 2007

Tony Snow, the White House Press Secretary, successfully battled colon cancer two years ago, but the cancer has returned and spread to his liver and elsewhere, said the White House Tuesday.

The President spoke to reporters briefly, telling Snow to "stay strong" and that he looks forward to the day Snow is again briefing reporters at the White House.

The 51-year-old had his entire colon removed in 2005 and underwent six months of chemotherapy after being diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer.

On Monday, doctors removed a small growth that had been detected last year and determined it was cancerous. Snow says he plans on beating cancer again with a yet to be determined chemotherapy treatment.

The news comes less than a week after Presidential candidate John Edwards' wife Elizabeth announced that her breast cancer has returned.
