Firefighters spent over two hours battling a blaze Friday night into the early Saturday morning hours. Five units and 35 firefighters were needed to calm the flames.

The owners of the home in Albemarle County were not home and no one was harmed.

Next door, Scott and Lisa Kirkpatrick spent one of their first nights in their newly purchased home.

"There's a big window in the hallway and there was an orange glow. That and the heat, I said, 'Ah! That's a fire!'"

The couple just moved to Albemarle County from Northern Virginia. They quickly evacuated and watched helplessly as their neighbors house was burned to the ground. Thankfully, firefighters were able to contain the blaze. Only part of the Kirkpatrick's home was ruined.

The owners of the home that was destroyed are staying with relatives in Charlottesville at this time.

Fire officials say that the cause of the fire is not available at this time, though it appears to be accidental.
