Greene County Republicans are getting energized this weekend ahead of Tuesday's election. On Saturday they held their first-ever Nathaniel Greene Freedom Festival at Ruckersville Elementary School.
Despite the messages from numerous speakers, all minds at the event were likely on the election. Polling right now shows GOP statewide candidates poised for victory, but folks at today's rally say complacency is not going to be part of their equation.
"We're running like we're ten points behind," said Del. Rob Bell (R-58th Dist.), who himself is running for re-election against Democrat Cynthia Neff. "We have volunteers out knocking on doors and making phone calls and obviously there's mail and television and radio commercials and everything. So it's a very busy, tiring time but the election end is in sight. It's on Tuesday."
Organizers of the Freedom Festival say they hope to make it an annual event Greene County.
