Two armed robberies, almost two hours apart.
The first happened around 2:30 am on Sunday at the 7-11 on Hydraulic.
The victim says he was sitting in his car when the suspect pulled a gun and demanded cash.
"A light-skinned black male came up to him, pulled up his shirt, showed his weapon and demanded money," Lt. John Teixeira of Albemarle County Police said.
The victim complied and the suspect took off towards Commonwealth drive.
Then, less than two hours later and not even one mile away, another armed robbery. This time at the Westgate Apartment complex.
The details, strangely similar. At around 4:00 am a car pulled into the parking lot, blocking in the vehicle with the victim inside. However, this time police say 2 black males approached the vehicle, pulling a gun and demanding cash. This victim was not as compliant.
"The victim took off running, there was a scuffle that ensued and eventually the victim lost his wallet, some electronics, and some jewelry," Lt. Teixeira said.
The victim did manage to escape unharmed. Police say despite the closeness in both proximity and time..they still do not know if the two were related, however are following some strong leads.
"We have made some headway on some of our cases and hopefully we'll have some positive news by the end of the week," Lt. Teixeira said.
