The company that imported the Chinese wheat gluten linked to the deaths of several pets says that none of the contaminated ingredient went to companies that make food for people.
The CEO of ChemaNutra says that all the wheat gluten went to companies that make pet foods but would not say which companies the importer supplied.
The recalled pet food has apparently led to the deaths of at least 16 pets across the country. FDA testing of the wheat gluten showed that it was contaminated with melamine, a chemical used to manufacture plastics.
