Protecting Plants from Freeze

April 5, 2007

Temperatures are expected to dip below freezing the next few nights and that could cause problems for armature gardeners.

To make sure the cool down doesn't damage your plants, experts recommend you bring any plants in containers inside.

But if the plant has to stay outside, you aren't out of luck. "You can cover it with bedsheets or blankets... if you're going to use plastic, make sure that it is not actually contacting the foliage and they'll help out some," said Norm Carlson of Snow's Garden Center.

You'll want to uncover the plants in the morning.
