Voters in Fluvanna County wanted a fresh take on old issues. The polls show that water sustainability and the economy are the topics they care about.

The new Columbia District Supervisor is Shaun Kenney, who takes the seat from Marvin Moss. Kenney says he does not want to raise taxes for working families. He also wants to see more transparency in the James River water pipeline process.

Voters are happy with Donald Weaver, as they voted him back as the Cunningham District Supervisor. Weaver says the budget in his district has gotten out of hand; he wants to raise taxes and attain fiscal responsibility. Weaver says he will work with Aqua Virginia to address the water quality issue in his district.

D. Brian Philips was elected as the newest member of the Rivanna School Board. Philips says the biggest issue his school board faces is spending; he wants accountability and transparency for the school board's budget. Philips also wants to post the school board's budget on their website with a breakdown of where taxpayer dollars are going.

The newest school board member in the Cunningham District is Doug Johnson. Johnson takes the seat from Ronnie 'R.J.' Searcy. Johnson drilled home his intention of placing money toward education. He does not want the new high school to be a top priority for his district, which is a change from Searcy's stand.

The newest member of the Palmyra District School Board is Camilla Washington. Thomas Muir did not seek re-election, so Washington ran unopposed. Washington says she plans to narrow the Achievement Gap and focus on the overall achievement for students in her district.

The new Rivanna Supervisor is Joe Chesser, who also ran unopposed. Chesser has a strong background in local government and he is in favor of running a water line from the James River. Chesser says, this would ensure adequate water supply to the planned development areas in Rivanna.
