A moving ceremony at the Albemarle County Office Building Wednesday morning paid tribute to soldiers past and present.
About 100 people packed Lane Auditorium in the County Office Building Wednesday for a spcial Veteran's Day ceremony.
Colonel Kevan Jacobson delivered the address, speaking about the importance of honoring the past and the values and morals embodied in American soldiers. With the ceremonial Laying of the Wreaths, Veterans honored the sacrifices their fellow soldiers make every day.
"It's just a re-affirmation of the community's dedication to the Veterans. We always have a great crowd and we enjoy doing this," said Vietnam War Veteran, Patrick Kelly.
After the ceremony, Veterans headed over to the Vietnam War Museum in Ruckersville.
Veteran's Day actually began as Armistice Day, commemorating the end of World War I and the first modern war fought. However, in 1954 Congress replaced Armistice with Veterans to celebrate all Veterans, and not just those of World War I.
