More than 100 people filled the halls of the County Office Building to speak about a proposed soccer facility along Polo Grounds Road. After more than 40 people spoke during the public hearing, the zoning request for the facility was turned down by the Board of Supervisors.

The nearly $5 million project was proposed to bring an indoor facility and one turf field on a ten-acre site just off of Polo Grounds Road. The piece of property that the Soccer Organization of Charlottesville Albemarle asked to rezone adjoins their current property which includes offices for the soccer club and fields.

SOCA organizers say they don't know what the future will hold for a possible proposal in another location.
