The man behind the development of Charlottesville's downtown mall and UVa's Corner wants a seat on city council.
Thursday morning, Satyendra Singh Huja announced his bid for the Democratic nomination.
Huja says his 31 years as a planning director for the city gives him the experience to strengthen and protect Charlottesville's quality of life.
If elected, he plans to address issues involving neighborhoods, the environment and transportation.
"One of the things I would like to suggest is a transit system that runs every 15 minutes, instead of every hour, so that people can ride it and not be stuck in roads," Huja cited as one idea to improve transportation and the environment. "If you have an efficient and frequent transit system, it will help the environment. It will help the traffic."
The primary is June 2nd. The election is November 6th.
