People in Charlottesville now have a new, greener way to get around, Zip Cars. The new fuel-efficient and hybrid car-sharing program arrived on the grounds of the University of Virginia Tuesday.
Local residents and students are allowed to rent the new Zip Cars by the hour, with gas and insurance included in the price. The fuel-efficient and hybrid Zip Cars will be based on the grounds of UVa, but company officials say they plan to serve the entire Charlottesville community.
"I think the majority of use will come from obviously students, faculty and staff, but you will definitely see people from the local community using the cars," said Matthew Mallow, of Zip Car.
The cars are also available for a flat fee.
