Residents and members of the Senior Center in Charlottesville celebrated their caregivers Tuesday. Several organizations came together for the day's events.
Participants took part in activities such as yoga and baking workshops. Organizers say it was a day to thank the people who sometimes forget to take care of themselves.
"A lot of times, caregivers don't take care of themselves. And caregivers do pass away, often times before the individual they are caring for. That's what we are most concerned about: taking care of yourself before you can take care of others," said Annie Marrs, of the Alzheimer's Association.
Tuesday's celebration was the ninth year of the event, and organizers says it becomes more and more popular with each passing year.
