Recent studies released by the Centers for Disease Control and prevention show that most Americans do not eat the recommended number of servings of fruits and vegetables each day.
Eating the recommended amounts of fruits and vegetables may reduce your risk of certain diseases and may help you control your weight.
They also provide your body with nutrients that are vital to your health.
The CDC and the Produce for Better Health Foundation have partnered to launch a new public health initiative called ‘Fruits and Veggies: More Matters.’
“We just find that diets that are higher in fruits and vegetables reduce the risk of different chronic diseases, certain cancers and certain cardiovascular diseases. It just reduces your risk overall,” said local dietitian Viola Holmes.
