Overnight Shooting in Albemarle County

One person is in the hospital and two people are being questioned by police.

Around 11:15 Sunday night, police were called 171 Whitewood Road for shots fired. When they arrived, they found one person lying on the side of the road with gun shot wounds. Witnesses said the victim was shot three times, once in the leg, chest and stomach. He was transported to UVa Medical Center and his condition is unknown.

Police detained a couple people for questioning that were on the scene when they arrived. This is an ongoing investigation and when more details are available we will get that to you.

No word on whether the people in police custody know the victim. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Albemarle County Police at (434) 296-5807.
