Chris Daughtry returned to the place where he formed his first band and received his first guitar Friday night. He played in Charlottesville at John Paul Jones Arena.
Over 6,000 fans filled the arena. But no one was more proud than his parents, Pete and Sandra Daughtry, who were in attendance.
"We're excited," Sandra says. "It's been a long time since he's been back in Charlottesville."
Chris is the Daughtry's youngest son. They say in high school, Chris was artistic and loved theatre. But once Pete Daughtry gave Chris a first guitar and taught him a few chords, Chris then practiced non-stop.
Chris Daughtry first found success on American Idol and is now on a Worldwide tour. However, his parents say that he's still the "same old Chris."
