In Fluvanna County, the Board of Supervisors dedicated the Palmyra Company One Fire Department Saturday.

Citizens and future firefighters had their chance to tour the new building. Construction finished in March, but firefighters didn't move in until a couple weeks ago.

Saturday's open house was the first chance for locals to see the new fire station.

“The Supervisors had the building dedicated and it's basically to the citizens of the county. The board funded the building and basically we look at it as the citizen's building,” said Mike Brent, fire chief.

The station has 40 members who voluntarily serve the community.
