The VDOT Workers' Memorial is closed Monday, April 23, for repairs following a tractor trailer crash.
The crash happened early Monday morning around 7 a.m. The driver claims that she was blinded by the sun before losing control and flipping the truck on its side.
The driver and her son were taken to the UVa Medical Center with minor injuries. Charges are pending while the Virginia State Police investigate the accident.
The granite memorial, located on Interstate 64 in western Albemarle County, was not damaged and is expected to reopen late Monday.
