The Democrat announced on his blog CvilleDave that he got engaged over the weekend to his girlfriend Sarah. He also shaved off his signature red beard for charity.

It was a big weekend for Charlottesville Mayor Dave Norris. The Democrat announced on his blog CvilleDave that he got engaged over the weekend to his girlfriend Sarah.

Under a post entitled "Befores and Afters," Norris says it has been a weekend of personal transformations.

In addition to becoming engaged, Norris also shaved off his signature red beard and mustache for a good cause.

On Sunday, Norris took the 'Mustaches for Kids" challenge. He has until December 18th to re-grow a mustache for charity. Proceeds go to such organizations as the Make A Wish Foundation and Children's Hospitals.
