Local Police Awarded

May 2, 2007

Some of Charlottesville's finest received some recognition from city manager Gary O'Connell. The officers were honored for some outstanding work in the community.

Some Charlottesville police officers were awarded for their response to a shooting on Prospect Avenue. Officers say that it's nice to be recognized, but that it's all just part of the job.

"It's nice that people do recognize that and see, people who are not involved with what we do everyday realize that our type of work is somewhat different and take notice of that," said Lt. Gary Pleasants, Charlottesville Police.

Firefighters who also responded to that shooting recommended that the officers get the award.
