High School Coach Allegedly Gives Student Alcohol

May 4, 2007

Albemarle County Police arrested a softball coach at Western Albemarle High school Thursday for allegedly supplying alcohol to a 15-year-old student.

24-year-old Alisha Stewart, a J.V. softball coach at Western Albemarle, was arrested on two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Both charges carry a maximum sentence of one year in prison and/or a $2,500 fine. The student was found under the influence of alcohol on school's grounds Tuesday. The investigation led them to Stewart.

There is no evidence that she provided alcohol to any other students. She was released on bond Thursday. Her first court appearance is set for May 14th.
