People in Charlottesville lent a helping hand Thursday to a woman badly burned in a house fire. Ashley Mauter suffered third-degree burns back in March in a fire that killed one man.
Colleagues and friends held a fundraiser for her at Rapture on the Downtown Mall where Mauter used to work. Organizers hoped to raise enough money to offset her medical costs.
"So we're trying to help them out the best we can so we can get Ashley back where she was and everything," said Rapture manager Bob Bedford.
Mauter was released from the hospital Thursday and will recover at a rehab facility in Charlottesville.
