Dozens of children and their parents raced for fun Sunday in Albemarle County.

The parent-child relay race was a fundraiser for the Meriwether Lewis Elementary School. Organizers described it as a family-oriented run that takes place every year. The nice weather brought about 80 people out to the track, and everyone called it a hit.

"The main goal is for parents and the kids to participate in an event at an equal level, also some good team building and community building within the school and then obviously a little bit of fund raising for our PE program here at the school," said co-director Mark Lorenzoni.

This year marked the 14th year of the Fun Run.
