Multi Vehicle Accident Leaves One Dead

May 9, 2007

A multi-vehicle accident along Interstate 64 has claimed the life of one person.

The accident happened around 4:35 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Police say the victim, 42-year-old Samuel Carl East from Crimora, was driving a 2002 Ford pulling a trailer filled with lumber and plywood.

Authorities say East was headed to Lake Anna to do some construction work. While driving, some plywood fell off East's trailer. East pulled over to go pick up the wood.

According to officials, Ora Sanders-Morin from Louisa hit her brakes when she saw the plywood. She was rear ended by Elizabeth Jones of Ivy. Sanders-Morin lost control of her car and struck East and his trailer with her SUV.

Both women were taken to UVa Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The accident is currently under investigation.

East was pronounced dead at the scene.
