Jamestown's 400th Anniversary Celebration

May 11, 2007

Virginia has celebrated the birthday of Jamestown every 50 years since 1807. This year, Jamestown will celebrate its 400th anniversary.

The festivities began Friday and will run through Sunday, with concerts, fireworks and an appearance by President Bush on closing day.

More than 100 tents filled with food, and various exhibits have been set up at the Historic Jamestowne and Anniversary Park for visitors to enjoy. This weekend is being funded by nearly $5 million in private and public funds.

The funding for the entire commemoration is about $32 million.
