Letter carriers across the country are working to stamp out hunger.

Postal carriers everywhere will be collecting food for the needy on Saturday. You can help. Just leave canned and boxed food donations in or around your mailbox, and letter carriers will pick up the donations when they pick up your mail.

“All the food is for the local people who need it. And we know in our community there are people who need food. This is a way for us to give back to the community,” said Charlottesville letter carrier David Straughn.

Last year, local carriers collected more than 30,000 pounds of food.
