Albemarle School District Receives Recognition

May 17, 2007

The Albemarle School district received recognition from business circulation Expansion Magazine for their quality of education. The district received a gold medal.

The magazine ranks all public secondary school districts in the country. The gold medal rating puts Albemarle's school district in the top 17% of the 2,819 districts evaluated nationwide.

The study included more than 35 million students. It's a recognition that has local educators proud of their program.

"We're pretty excited about this simply because it was an unsolicited recognition, which provides a lot of credibility to the work we are doing as a school division," said Bernard Hairston, Executive Director of Strategic Planning.

The gold medal is the highest recognition any school district can receive.
