Veggie Bus is Back in Charlottesville

May 17, 2007

The environmentally friendly big green bus was back in Charlottesville Thursday. The bus runs on filtered vegetable oil and solar power. It started a cross country trip just for fun.

It made its way back to Charlottesville to raise awareness of alternative energy. The National Outdoor Leadership School hopes the veggie bus will inspire kids to pay attention to energy use and the many ways to conserve it.

"Things simple as turning off lights when you leave the room,
not leaving faucets running. You can buy vehicles with better gas mileage. There's quite a few different things people can do," said Alex Schirer of N.O.L.S.

The bus spent Thursday at Blue Ridge Mountain Sports at Barracks Road.
