Charlottesville Fire Department Gets Re-Accreditation

May 18, 2007

The Charlottesville Fire Department accomplished an impressive feat by receiving a recommendation for re-accreditation. The accreditation measures the fire department against departments across the state and the country.

Fire Chief Charles Warner says the honor shows the department is doing the right thing.

"It has specific core competencies that it looks at to see how well you're doing it. Is what you're saying you're doing a reality? So it's a reality check to say are we doing the right things and can we do them better," said Warner.

Accreditation was done by four outside departments. Charlottesville's recommendation becomes official at a national conference in August.
