Students looking to make moving out a little easier headed out to the
the UVa community relations department's first annual sofa shuffle on Saturday.

The event was held at the Management Services Corporation's clubhouse on Madison Avenue. All day, graduating UVa students dropped off more than 100 pieces of used furniture that members of the community could come and pick up for free. Organizers say it was a very successful day.

"Some people came with multiple items, donated those knowing that it would be going to a good cause. The Salvation Army will take everything that's left," Jim Fitzgerald said.

Organizers said that more than 300 people showed up. Many of them lined up before the event started.
