Albemarle County Car Crash

May 24, 2007

Police say a man is lucky to be alive after a car accident in Albemarle County. Authorities say the man's car narrowly missed several trees and a telephone pole after his car went off the road.

Police say they got a call from the driver still inside the car saying that he crashed and had gone unconscious. He was driving down Free Union Road near Garth Road when he crossed both lanes, went over an embankment, barreled through a fence and landed in someone's yard.

"I've had wrecks out here in front, not seen anything like this before" said Robert Wells, whose yard the car ended up in.

The victim was taken to the UVa Medical Center.
