Charlottesville’s historic Jefferson Theatre made a comeback Friday night, welcoming a sold out crowd for its grand re-opening. Fans could be seen lining up outside the theatre before the doors opened up at 7pm. Friday night, local country rock band Sons of Bill took the stage, and Saturday, November 28 Trees on Fire will perform. Project managers say Fridays show was about celebrating the completion of three years of renovations and introducing a new venue for local talent.

“I think people are just going to be blown away by what we have been able to do with the building and how much of the historic fabric of this structure has survived over the years and the way we have been able to incorporate it into making it a pretty cool nightclub,” said project manager Kirby Hutto.

The Jefferson Theater first opened its doors in 1912 hosting vaudeville shows and silent movies.
