The Charlottesville Police were on the Downtown Mall Thursday giving parents information about the importance of get their child's fingerprints.
Thursday police along with the Met Life and Short Insurance handed out finger print kits at the Downtown Mall. They say that keeping your child's finger prints can help identify missing children, should anything happen to them in the future.
"When you find a child that's been missing for four or five years, all there physical characteristics have changed, but something that does not change, of course, is their fingerprints" said Harvey Finkel of the Charlottesville Police.
Police say that you should also keep an up to date picture of your child should they ever go missing.
